Trekking in Jatiluwih Rice Field Terraces
Besides a short trekking in Tegalalang rice field, the most popular trekking place for rice terraces is in Jatiluwih village. Located in Tabanan regency, about an hour drive west from Denpasar, there are hectares of rice field teraces you can admire.

One client that I went with to this places commented how green the area is. “Whenever I saw pictures of rice field in Bali, I always thought it couldn’t be this green. The pictures has to have been edited or something, because it is so green. But now I see the real rice field, it is really that green.”
Yes, you got it. When the rice plants are just being planted in the rice field, they can be green and beautiful. And the view of little rice plant growing on water with the reflection of the sky, coconut trees, and make it more beautiful.
You can see besides rice, there are other plants grown in the area. This includes coffee, clove, vanilla and many kind of plants. But mostly it would be rice; white rice, sticky rice and even black rice. (Note: for you coffee drinker, you should also not miss the Bali luwak coffee).
You will have this pleasant cooling feeling when you walk along the rice field path. Just remember that enjoying the view you can forget and may step into the muddy area in the rice field.
If you like photography, Jatiluwih village is a great place to shoot for landscape. If you ask me, I think going here at noon is a great idea, especially when the sky has no cloud.
Anyway, if you come to Bali, and have time for a little trekking, and like good and beautiful panorama, you should not miss Jatiluwih.
