Tips on getting a taxi in Bali

There are many taxi service available in Bali.  Although the taxi is only available in bigger towns and tourists area. It would be easy to find a taxi in Denpasar or in Kuta.  But it would not be the case if you try to find a taxi in Singaraja or Ubud.

When you get a taxi, please take a note of the number in the taxi that usually shown on the vehicle body. Sometimes it is also located on the glass window. This is important, when let say, you forget your belongings in the taxi, it is easier to trace it back. Just call the taxi company, and report that you have lost something and you think that you may have left it on a taxi with the number you have noted.

There are also people who offer their transport service by the street. They don’t have the proper taxi. They may use a mpv type car or tourist vehicle.  (note: do you know that taxi is spelled “taksi” in Bali?) You can use them as well, but be prepare to haggle over the price.

When you just going home from a bar at 4 am, and you have a hangover part 2, and you go out to hail a taxi in the street. It is not easy to remember the taxi number if you are in this condition. What may happen is that you drop your hand phone and just realized it in the next morning. If you can not remember the taxi number, your phone will be gone forever.  So, better leave your valuable things if you plan to drinks a lot of Bintang beer in your favorite bar. If you can, don’t travel alone, but grab some of your friends.

Hailing a taxi is quite a simple matter to talk about. But it is quite important to find a reputable taxi company so that you will regret later.
