Touring in Bali versus traffic jam!

When planning your tour itinerary, especially if you plan to hire a driver or a tour guide, you have to take account of the traffic jam. Traffic jam can happen on certain time during the days, or if the traffic is being rerouted because certain road is blocked due to religious festival. The number of the cars pouring like rain everyday so you will need dodge the traffic jam, just like Indiana Jones dodging the big ball rolling into him at the temple of the doom. (Forgive the analogy if you are not familiar with it).

So, the plan is about to be revealed to you.

On the peak season; school holiday or any holidays, tourists places such as Kuta would be flooded by tourists. So, it’s best to stay away from Kuta when choosing accomodation. You can try Legian or Seminyak.

Morning, Noon, and Evening. Expect the traffic jam in the Dewa Ruci round about, and along the main street the Baypass Ngurah Rai street. (Bypass Ngurah Rai connect Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Kuta, Sanur to Ubud and beyond). Midday has an OK traffic. But evening, people commute on motor bikes and cars. Hence, traffic jam is inevitable.

How to avoid traffic jam?

If you like going touring, you can actually change hotel. First, stay in Sanur. From Sanur you can tour to Kintamani route and East route (to Besakih). Next, change hotel to Seminyak. From Seminyak, you can venture on a Singaraja tour and drive easily to Tanah Lot temple without dealing with too much of traffic. Next, stay in Jimbaran, from here you can easily visit Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa, and Uluwatu. Even the airport is close from Jimbaran.

That’s my thought on avoiding traffic jam. Have you experience any traffic jam in Bali? What do you think? Please share your thoughts.

Forget to mention, hire a motor bike!
